I see differently, I feel deeply
I see
differently
I feel
deeply
When I meet you
I pay more mind
to the story behind your eyes
than the words
coming out of your mouth
When I walk in the city
I see not people rushing,
but little energies,
either present
or scattered
When I listen to music
I don’t vibe with merely a beat,
I notice the words that are shared
and the tunes
behind the tunes
When I’m having dinner
it’s not only my taste pallet
that’s being triggered.
I feel how the land of the crop
has been treated,
if the animals
were praised or harmed
in the process
When I enter a house
I see no beautiful couch
or fancy marble kitchen;
I witness the type of fabric
of the pillows,
if the interior has been chosen
with personal care
When I listen to your story
I’m not impressed
by your achievements
but by how much heart
you put into
what you do
There were times I wished
I was less sensitive,
less overwhelmed, even
I realize
more and more
that I am both fiery like a mid-winter storm
and subtle like the smallest leaf
traveling down to earth
on the softest
breeze
This is my world
This is my strength
This is my gift
To see
differently
to feel
deeply
To not adjust my sensitivity
to the standards of the world
but to share
my observations
my heart
my way of seeing
with the world
around me
